The launch of Tooling Event Belgium in 2012 is the result of the collaboration between Marqit and VNU Exhibitions, organisers of Tooling Event in the Netherlands. The aim is to make Tooling Event the biggest Belgian trade show on the theme of IT management. In fact, a survey carried out amongst Infosecurity and Storage Expo visitors during the 2011 event in Belgium revealed that more than a third of visitors showed a marked interest in IT and service management.
What is “tooling”?
The concept of “tooling” covers the whole spectrum of IT management, from handling IT organisation to monitoring client satisfaction, via the guarantee of all internal procedures and Service Level Agreements (SLA). It also includes the implementation of IT infrastructure, both physical and virtual, networks, systems and licences.
IT management is becoming progressively more complex. We may, for example, consider the increasing power of virtual environments, applications linked to cloud computing and the use of (private) devices such as portable computers, tablets of the iPad type, and smart-phones. The challenges of IT management are therefore to be found within IT organisations as well as outside them.
Tooling Event deals with the strategic aspects of these fields, but in addition focuses principally on current and future practices, and on those tools that may serve these aims. Through the show’s programme and via exhibitors’ products, various contexts, methodologies (for example ITIL, ASL and ISM) and software packages are presented, all working towards the same objectives: simplification of management, optimisation and improvement of client satisfaction.
The advantages of this collaboration
Roderick Wijsmuller, Managing Director of Marqit.be, is convinced that the addition of Tooling Event to Infosecturity.be and Storage Expo Belgium will offer great added value: “This combination offers visitors a broader and fuller view of the most up-to-date services and products on the market.” Pieter Simons, ICT cluster manager at VNU Exhibitions Europe, is also satisfied with the collaboration: “Our experience in the Netherlands has taught us that the various shows must in no way sacrifice their own identity due to this combination, and continue explicitly to display an individual position in comparison with the market.”
Topdesk, an exhibitor at Tooling Event, can vouch for this: “We are participating at Tooling Event because this show has for a number of years been a great success in the Netherlands, and because Topdesk is the tool par excellence for service management and facility management.” Omninet is equally enthusiastic: “Omninet has never hesitated to take part in Tooling Event. For us, the show is an ideal opportunity to build our reputation and meet existing and potential clients.”
